iPhone, Snow and A Lovely Day at the Gym
February 9, 2008 11:16 am UncategorizedA lot has happened since the last time I blogged, while I was home sick from work. I’m definitely feeling much better and getting back to the norms of a healthy life but, am just not back to 100% yet.
There was yet more snow that came down on Wednesday night. It was the really wet, nasty snow that would be better not falling in the first place. Not to mention that this snow’s predecessor was a nice, afternoon long, thunderstorm on Monday. As I have mentioned before, I am just amazed at the volatility and craziness of the weather this winter. Needless to say, before I could leave for work on Thursday, I had to scrape about 2 inches of snow and ice off of my car. This left the same amount of snow/ice on my hood, roof and trunk. The engine heat melted the stuff on the hood. The rest was left up to chance and some rather interesting times.
I was headed to a meeting downtown and pulled up to a stop light when all of the snow/ice that was on the roof of my car slid down and now was inconveniently sitting on my windshield. Now, I’m sitting at light downtown with 2 inches of snow/ice on my windshield. At least I was stopped and not driving when this happened since I could not see a thing. The snow was so heavy that it made my windshield wipers jet out in all sorts of weird directions (if there are all sorts of directions for a windshield wiper to go). I had to put the car in park, put the flashers on and get out and clean off the car so that I could see and finally make it to my destination.
All week long my phone had been giving me a lot of problems. One day, the keypad wouldn’t work so I couldn’t call or text anyone. The touchscreen still worked so I could answer phone calls, but that was it. On Thursday when I was downtown, my phone either wouldn’t make phone calls or when it did, the people on the other line couldn’t hear me. I was about ready to punt the dumb thing right into Lake Michigan. The phone just couldn’t win like that and I was not about to let it. So, like a rational human being, I walked into the Apple store and bought myself an iPhone. Best purchase I’ve ever made. (I’ll put the MacBook Pro that I’m typing on up there too just so it doesn’t get mad at me and stop working) ((this is like one giant Apple commercial)) (((can you keep adding parenthesis when you want to make another side comment on top of another))) ((((I’m going to go with NO so I’ll stop after this one)))) Needless to say, I’m like a giddy little kid with my new phone and it is awesome!!!
I’ve really been wanting to get back into exercising again. I was doing so good with running and all this past spring. Then I moved to Chicago and it all went down hill. Before, I could walk out of my front door and run wherever I wanted. Now, I had to run in the city, find my way down to the lake front or join a gym. All either extremely inconvenient, annoying or way out of my budget. Thankfully though, with my new job, I was able to get access to a gym. I went last night for the first time and it was great. It was so nice to get some exercise in and I felt great after. Its one of those nice gym/health club venues. Amenities everywhere. Not to mention, a spa and any other thing that one could possibly imagine and not need. But, after I go there a few times, I too will see them as a need.
