When A Number Isn’t Enough
May 13, 2008 9:29 pm UncategorizedThere are still a few places. The relics. This is where you can go and you can be in peace. The only thing you have to do is remember a number. You step in, you look, you press the button and you remember. Simple right? That’s what I thought. But parking garages have become much more complex than this. You no longer parked your car on the 6th floor/level. It goes way beyond that. Today I went to O’hare. I thought I had parked on the 6th floor, but when I stepped into the elevator I was pleasantly surprised. I parked on the 6th floor, which was red, which was the Chicago Wolves, which had a picture of their mascot and which played the star spangled banner as you stepped out in case you were completely unable to remember 4 previous things. I can see how the color could be helpful if you can’t count, and this has been done for a lot of years. I can see how the name can be helpful just in case you park on the 4th floor, can only count to 3 and are color blind. I can see how the picture is helpful if you can’t count, read and are color blind. I can see how the song is helpful if you are just blind, but hopefully if that is the case, you would not be walking to your car which you had previously parked in the garage, and planning to drive away. Pretty soon, I’m going to have to recite a poem so that I can remember where I parked my car. I do realize that I could just memorize one of the options, but then again, what fun would that be?
