So I’ve decided that laundry is this weird thing. I’m not gonna go out on any limb and say good or bad. The middle, ever so non-descript, weird road. Everyone likes to have clean laundry. In fact, I think you would be hard pressed to find a person who wouldn’t mind always having clean clothes waiting for them and never having to have dirty ones to worry about.
Let’s not get sidetracked in a world of “that would be great” and “I wishes”. Laundry is not hard, it just takes an effort. *see foot note* Because of this effort, I typically wait until there is a considerable pile of laundry before any effort is undertaken.
Once you have arrived at a laundry facility, the road becomes smooth. This is the easy part. You simply just have to put everything in and let the scrubbing commence. This is particularly fun when using front loading machines. You can see the action taking place. Now, I have an unbiased view towards drying. It is what it is.
However, once the drying is finished, the road turns to hell. I hate folding. In fact, this very blog came about because I am staring at a pile of clean clothes that have been on my floor for over a week. It would take me 10 minutes to fold them all and put them away, but for whatever reason, they remain on the floor.
*We are talking about laundry that is not in your house/apt. This is laundry that has to be schlepped down stairs, across roads or driven to laundry mats.

There are many interesting things to see in a Chicago summer. There are tons of festivals, parks to walk through and people to watch. Not all of them provide the same form of entertainment. Don’t get me wrong, they are all incredibly fun, but some provide more EV (entertainment value) than others. For example, nothing can quite liven up a normal, everday drive home like looking off to the side of the road and seeing a guy walk down the street in a sundress and holding a satchel. Yeah, that’s right, I said it…Satchel.

Today made history. I now have a driver license other than one from Wisconsin for the first time. I headed on over to the Secretary of State branch in Deerfield. Yeah, I find it a little weird that they aren’t called DMV’s or MVD’s or any other combination of the the three letters. Not only did I get an Illinois license, but I was able to register to vote and make sure that I was an organ donor all at the same time. Now that’s what I call a very productive lunch hour.
Let’s back up and get a little detail on the process. I decided that an early lunch would be the only way to go. Licensing centers are notorious for long waits. What do you know, the plan paid off. I alerted the first station guy that I was there to get an Illinois DL and that I currently had one from WI. He gave me a number, of course, after I had proven that I had the proper paperwork. (4 forms of identification)
As soon as I received my number, it was called and off to station number 9 I headed. Now the guy there stared at my WI DL for quite a long perioed of time. and then he went back to staring at his computer. I don’t think he was doing anything other than merely catching a quick break. Perhaps he was finishing up the latest article from espn.com. He got all my correct information, got me registered to vote and sent me off to the next station.
Since I was getting an IL DL for the first time, I was required to take a written test. 20 multiple choice questions and 15 signs. I will have you all know that I only missed 2. (For those that don’t have the time to do the math, that would be a big 33 out of 35 or…94%) When I took the test back up, the lady graded the test and then looked at me and said “very excellent”. So, I patted myself on the back and moved on. But wait, I don’t have my WI DL? I looked at the lady who graded my test as she was taking away my WI DL!!! It was a very sad moment. I believe that as the moment passed before me in the slowest of motions, a single tear ran down my face as I was never to see my WI DL again.
Needless to say, I pressed on like a trooper. Off I went to the final station. I was beginning to feel as though I had conquered this combatant zone. The final step was the picture step. My name was called, well, something that I guess was suppose to resemble my name. “R. Isaiaick Sinnett”, was what the lady said. (don’t worry, if you can’t make it out phonetically, I can’t either) I went up there and chatted with the picture lady for a while. I was beginning to make a few friends. She takes my picture. They do a superb job there. I have a tan on this picture that any fake’n'bake would be jealous off. I was laughing so hard they must’ve thought I’d finally lost it. Perhaps I had.
In the end, I have a IL-DL. Now, off to get some IL plates.

I am currently sitting outside listening to a great concert. Well, soon to be listening to a great concert. Right now I’m listening to a pretty decent concert. Again, to be fair, I’m listening to a darn good concert. It just is not the fantastic concert that is going to take place in just over an hour. Not to forget the fact that I’m sitting outside on the lawn with some freakishly fast wireless. Not only can you come and enjoy a concert, but you can surf the web. Must I say it again? Ok, I must. It’s freaking awesome! I must go for now. There are so many other things on the agenda to enjoy before I sit back, listen and enjoy.
